Government says it remains committed to dealing with the widespread violence in many parts of the Northern region.
Deputy Northern Regional Minister Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini says government is now determined to crack the whip and deal with perpetrators.
He said government will go the extra mile to nip the lawlessness and indiscipline which often trigger some of this violence in the bud.
The Deputy Regional Minister was speaking at the inauguration of Saint Vincente College of Education in Yendi said the region needs peace and stability to fast track development.
The Northern region has gained notoriety for pockets of conflicts which has retarded development in the region. Out of the five curfews imposed on towns in the country, four are from the region.
Deputy Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji A.B.A Fuseini says this is seriously affecting peace and security in the region.
He said the insecurity and instability in the region can be blamed on the gross disregard of law and order by the people.
"Let it be known that no single person here has the right to infringe on the fundamental human right and freedom of other people. This is a society ruled by law and order and the manner of resolving conflicts is clearly stated," said Alhaji Fuseini.
He said no matter how aggrieved a person is, they should never take the law into their own hands.
Alhaji Fuseini says government has awarded a contract for the establishment of a four-storey building to be used as dormitories, classroom and administration block.
The Royal regent of Dagbon Kampakuya, Na Abdulai Yakubu Andani. expressed optimism about how the establishment of the education college will solve the issue of lack of teachers in that area. He, however, expect government to fulfill its promise of ensuring the growth of the school.
Initial efforts towards the establishment of the College, named after the first Bishop of the Catholic Dioceses of Yendi most Rev.Vicent Sowah Boi-Nai began in 2011. His dream was to train young women and men who will dedicate themselves to transforming disadvantaged rural basic schools in Dagbon and beyond.
Chairman of Gbewa civil engineering Yakubu Kasuli pledged ¢35,000 to help construct a kitchen for the school.
Rural Water Development Programme led by Nathaniel Adams also promised to also construct a ¢20,000 water facility for the school.
The regent of Dagbon, Kampakuya-Na Abdulai Yakubu Andani and the Gulpe-Na paramount chief of Tamale also promised an amount of ¢10,000 towards the project.
