The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Junior, has made audacious revelations about what he calls deliberate moves by some NDC top guns to ensure that President Mills fails at all cost.He told Citi Breakfast Show Host, Bernard Avle, that there is currently a raging “Internal insurgency” within the ruling party, with key insiders making serious efforts to crash the Mills Presidency for their own parochial political interests.Unfortunately, Kwesi Pratt said, President Mills does not appear to appreciate the seriousness of the internal threat to his near two-year-old presidency.Mr Pratt’s comments come at the time of growing internal criticisms against the former law lecturer, with insiders such as Sekou Nkrumah calling for his immediate replacement ahead of the 2012 polls.“All these agitations and sometimes downright insults of the president and manoevouring by some footsoldiers point to a certain strategy to replace the president and that is why I call it the state of insurgency. It’s about regime change, its a particular power struggle aimed at replacing the president.”There are widening speculations that former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, may challenge President Mills to the NDC Presidential ticket for 2012.Critics of the Rawlingses allege that the former first family’s growing thirst for political power is the source of the anti-Mills campaign within the NDC.Without mentioning names, Mr Pratt warned that the growing internal opposition to President Mills will not inure to the benefit of the key insiders leading the attack, but rather may result in a possible return of the opposition NPP to power.“The blow which will send NDC to the canvass would not come from the New Patriotic party, it will not come from the Convention People’s Party, it will be a self inflicted blow, it would be an NDC blow which will send the NDC to the canvass.”“I don’t know how the regime is going to deal with this problem, but quite frankly, opponents of the regime are very, very happy with this situation. The regime itself does not appear to have understood the full implications of this internal insurgency; they don’t seem to realise that this can send them to the canvas, they don’t seem to realise that if the current trend continues their task of winning the next elections is going to be far more difficult than it has ever been,” he said.Source: Citi FM
