Parliament is demanding an apology from the Deputy Coordinator of the National Youth Council over his allegations of homosexuals in Ghana's legislature.Prince Derrick Adjei attracted the wrath of the leadership of the House Tuesday after he announced on Monday he intends to publish a long list of Members of Parliament he alleged are homosexuals.Also included in the intended list are bi-sexuals who he says are all linked to the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).Prince Derrick Adjei vowed to publish the ‘shocking’ list on Wednesday, 15th September, 2010 to expose the gay MPs, mostly on the minority side, because the NPP peddles falsehood and engages in name calling.“The list will come out on Wednesday. If they beg or they don’t beg, it doesn’t matter, the list will come out. I feel sad because some of the names on the list…people in parliament, people who have held NPP executive positions, yes! organizers and things,” he warned on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme.But even before he makes public his purported list of homosexuals and paedophiles in Parliament, Derrick Adjei’s comments have been condemned by MPs from both sides of the House.Deputy Majority Leader Rashid Pelpuo told Asempa FM that Prince Derrick Adjei must retract his statement and apologise.He also challenged the deputy youth coordinator to name names and not to just throw a blanket smear campaign at all MPs. He also thinks Derrick Adjei “must not be taken seriously”, suggesting he (Adjei) might not be in his right frame of mind for making such a wild allegation against a “noble institution” like Parliament.“I believe that this fellow must apologise, he must withdraw what he is saying…if there is not something wrong with his mind I think that it mustn’t happen that way at all.”Story by Isaac Essel/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
