The Vodafone Ghana Music Award (VGMA) has proven to be one of the most exciting events on the Ghanaian entertainment calendar to the point that music lovers in the country cannot afford to miss it.
The fact is that, not only do Ghanaians enjoy the euphoria that comes with this exciting event but also the foreign nationals who tend up to enjoy and share in the huge history of Ghanaian music.
In my view the 2016 edition of the VGMA, was just as amazing as previous editions. However, I think it could have been upped had the hosts of the event exhibited a some sense of humor.
As I keenly followed the event, It was obvious the audience was bored. They contributed to that because I couldn’t comprehend their reluctance to perform an act when demanded by the hosts of the event.

You are there to enjoy yourself so why not be active?
I will not blame them to a certain extent. Chris Attoh and Naa Ashokor were a great duo and they both have a wonderful Curriculum Vitae (C.V) for hosting top-notch events.
However, I think if there had been someone skilled in humor, preferably a stand-up comedian, hosting the VGMA, it would be more exciting.
There is currently a lot of options to choose from. From DKB, Foster Romanus, Khemikal, OB, and the only female comedian Jacinta.
If we are learning to set up stages that look like the BET Awards, Oscars, Grammys etc. why can't we learn to use our stand-up comedians to make events more exciting.
Let's not forget, entertainment isn't music alone.
