A former national treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Gifty Aryeh, otherwise called Daavi Ama (of Dimples Junction fame), has predicted the return of twin brothers, Ernest (Kakra) and Collins (Panyin) Essamuah, into the fold of the party. Kakra Essamuah, formerly a youth activist of the New Patriotic Party who in 1998 contested but failed to win the party’s general secretary post against Dan Botwe, was expelled from the party shortly before the 2000 general elections following his high praise of the performance at a press conference of then candidate Professor J.E.A. Mills of the then ruling National Democratic Congress. His twin, also an established member of the NPP then, quietly followed him out of the party. The two vociferous NPP men have since maintained a loud silence until recently when Kakra pitched camp in the NDC and has become an ardent critic of the NPP. But Daavi Ama says the Essamuah brothers have not been lost forever and must return to their roots, the NPP, where she believes they belong, asserting that from where she stands within the party, she believes Kakra was only sacrificed for political expediency. On Asempa FM’s <>Ekosii Sen current affairs programme on Monday, Daavi Ama said behaviours worse than what earned Kakra the boot out of the party have been perpetuated by persons within its ranks but which have gone unpunished, emphasizing that Kakra was only used as a “sacrificial lamb”, an action she regrets. According to Daavi Ama, Kakra need not harbour that bitterness any longer but to “ceasefire and let sleeping dogs lie” and return home, recalling that Kakra was so cherished within the party, so much so that former President J.A. Kufuor or NPP presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo would not hesitate to call him first if they were to find him among any group. She said given the dedicated services rendered by the Essamuah brothers to the party, they should return to occupy their rightful positions rather than some “latter day saints” or what she called ”ebe ebe, tatale” persons taking that honour they do not deserve. “Kakra and Panyin will come back to the NPP” she said.
