Government has signed on to new commitments to ensure continued support from its development partners.
The commitments contained in a communiqué released at the end of a consultative meeting with donor partners, would ensure that funds advanced to the country actually come in.
The development partners have also agreed to institute a costing and performance assessment system to track their commitments.
Finance and Economic Planning Minister, Dr. Kwabena Duffour said that “oil will increase government revenue but the meeting agreed that these funds need to be channeled towards key areas such as investment in infrastructure and further improving fiscal stability.”
This year’s Consultative Annual Partnership Meeting is the first ever under the Mills administration.
It offers the platform for government and countries which provide funds to directly support the budget to take stock of how beneficial the relationship has been and how it could be improved.
