The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union has said it has reached a partial settlement with the government over the dismissal of some 140 workers of the ailing national carrier, Ghana International Airlines.It said it has subsequently secured a promise from the President to have the workers paid five months salary pending the conclusion of negotiations.The ICU petitioned the President on the plight of the workers who were asked to go home in July because the company was not making enough money to pay all the staff.The ICU which has been battling the authorities to get the workers properly settled said it was grateful for the President’s intervention.Source: Joy Business/Ghana
