Dozens of refugees have been left to sleep in the open at Dzorwulu in Accra, Joy News has gathered.
These refugees who number at least 40 people made up of children, men and women predominantly come from Congo Brazzaville in the Central part of Africa.
Speaking to Joy News’ Sheila Tamakloe, the owner of the residence at Dzorwulu described the condition of the refugees as ‘pathetic.’
She disclosed the refugees have been around for close to four weeks and nothing has been done about their situation.
“We give them water to drink and sometimes they buy from us,” she said.
“Our worry is that they have babies and they are exposed to mosquito bites since they sleep in the open,” she added.
On his part, leader of the refugees who identified himself as Foster, said they came to Ghana because they were fleeing from a conflict in their country.
According to him, when they got to Ghana, they were sent to the Ghana Refugees Board (GFB) to go through the registration process.
They were then told to hold on until such a time when their documents would be readied for them to be properly attended.
However, four clear months after they went through the registration process, the GFB is yet to attend to their needs.
They are pleading with the Ghanaian authority to come to their aid since they have found it difficult to feed themselves.
