It appears the name of the building which is supposed to serve as the official seat of the president has been reverted to its former name. The Golden Jubilee House, which was constructed by the Kufuor administration amidst criticisms from the then opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), now has Flagstaff House written on the wall adjacent TV3.The over-$70-million edifice which has office and residential premises for the president, has been the subject of hot debate after President John Mills’ refusal to relocate there.Earlier this year, a part of it was handed over to the Foreign Affairs Ministry temporarily after their offices were razed down by fire. There has been no official confirmation of this name change. However, Joy FM's George Wiafe paid a visit to the site and confirmed the "FLAGSTAFF HOUSE" had been boldly written in caps and fixed against frontage of the fence wall around the building. The material used for the design looked metallic, probably, made of iron, George Wiafe said.Government has officially not responded to the issue but sources close to government, who prefer to remain anonymous, told Joy News the idea of the name change has been in the works for some time now.Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
