Ashanti Regional Women’s Wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has declared its support for the former Minister of Youth and Sports, Alhaji Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak.
He is under investigations by the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice for alleged abuse of office.
A statement signed by an official of the Group, Ms Ama Sarpomaah, said it has no doubt that the former Minister would be cleared of any wrong doing.
Alhaji Mubarak, who was sent to the Commission by the Progressive Nationalist Forum, a pressure group, has been accused of impropriety in the acquisition of a German Visa for Miss Edith Zineuali, alleged to be his girlfriend.
The former Minister, who is the Member of Parliament for Asawase in Kumasi, is reported to have presented the lady, as a staff of the Youth and Sports Ministry for the acquisition of German Visa although he knew that was not the case.
Miss Zineuali was at the time, Secretary to Mr Alban Sumani Bagbin, then Majority Leader in Parliament.
Alhaji Muntaka has denied the charges and the NDC women’s Group said that it was confident that the innocence of Alhaji Mubarak would be established.
The Group said it was impressed by the hard work of Alhaji Muntaka to bring development to Asawase in particular, and the Kumasi Metropolis in general, and pledged to stand solidly behind him.
