Construction firm Engineers and Planners has gone to the aid of flood victims in Accra following long hours of downpour in the capital throughout the weekend.
The rains which affected low-lying areas such as Mallam, Awoshie, Santa Maria, Kwashiebu, Circle Odawna, and Kaneshie among others left several people displaced with properties worth millions of Ghana Cedis destroyed.
“The rains have destroyed a lot of our properties. We have to throw away a lot of our carpets and dresses. We really need help. We have had to sleep in the open. We have not slept at all,” an affected resident at Mallam Lydia Antwi said.

Engineers and Planners (E&P) have moved their heavy duty equipment to Mallam and its environs following an SOS call by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Weija-Gbawe constituency Obuobia Darko-Opoku.
“We are very grateful to Engineers and Planners for responding swiftly to our call. It has really helped a lot to alleviate the plight of the people. It has been a difficult moment for us but thanks to them and the disaster management organisations we are making headway,” Obuobia told the media.
E&P is helping free choked drainages at Mallam and worked throughout Sunday night to Monday to make sure the waterways are cleared of fifth.
The locals have expressed their gratitude to E&P for coming to their rescue and have called on the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to provide them with relief items.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Services Department has warned of more rains in the coming days and has advised the public to take precautionary measures.
