Ex- President Jerry John Rawlings has been accused of sabotaging the successes of the government.
A confidant of President Atta Mills, Alhaji Iddrisu Bature, said Mr Rawlings must be taken to task over the current woes of the NDC led-Government especially when he, (Rawlings) has developed an appetite for running to town to unnecessarily badmouth the Mills Administration at the least opportunity.
Speaking last two weeks Friday on Radio Gold, Alhaji Bature rationalized that it was the frequent public criticisms from Rawlings that has instigated the party's foot-soldiers to rise against the Mills-Government in a near lawless manner.
He explained: "the former President...why some of us always take him on is the current problem facing the Mills Administration can be traced directly to him (Rawlings).
"I say directly to him because as founder of the NDC and a former President, former Head of State for 19 years, he has so much worth of knowledge and experience that he could have used to help the Mills administration.
"But ask yourself or find out if the former President had ever sat down with the Administration to air his concerns, all the time what you hear is either on the air or in the newsprint...I know if he had taken the pains to sit down with the President most of the challenges, the issues of the foot-soldiers would not have arisen and that is why I am taking him on,” Alhaji Bature added.
Alhaji Bature recently vowed to personally take on Jerry Rawlings anytime the latter spoke against the Mills administration. Bature, who made the vow on Adom FM noted among other things: "we have defeated him and we will take him on anytime he speaks."
Meanwhile, a group calling itself Friends of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (FONKAR) in a swift response to comments from Alhaji Bature has warned President Mills that if the attacks on the Rawlingses continue, it would unleash "legitimate violence" to protect the former first family and that no one should be blamed for the consequences and after effects.
FONKAR in a news statement issued over the matter accused President Mills of secretly sponsoring persons within the NDC to run down ex- president Jerry John Rawlings and his family.
