Mr. Amankwah Asiamah, the Member of Parliament for Fanteakwa, on Thursday said he had spent GHC 15,000 on scholarships for 100 students from his constituency who are in second cycle and tertiary institutions from his own resources and from the MP’s Common Fund.He said he had also spent over GHC 30, 000 on the construction of a six-unit classroom block for the Presbyterian Primary ‘B’ at Begoro.
Mr. Asiamah said this at a durbar to climax the Odwira Festival of chiefs and people of Fanteakwa at Begoro. He said since education was one of his major priorities, he would continue to use a greater percentage of his common fund and other resources to help brilliant but needy children from his constituency.
Mr. Asiamah commended Daasebre Awuah Kotoko on his 20 years of enstoolment as Begorohene and Benkumhene of Akyem Abuakwa.
He said the government had kept its promises by commencing the construction of the Begoro market and Begoro town roads. Mr. Asiamah said since he became MP he had supported communities and people in diverse ways which include provision of materials and equipment for schools, health institutions, churches and farmers.Source: GNA
