The Institute Of Economic Affairs is facilitating the process of calming political tensions in the country.Over the past week the country’s political landscape has been characterized by a feud which has seen the two main political parties, accusing each other of peddling falsehood and insults to undermine the other. The Executive Director of the IEA, Jean Mensah, said the feud must be stopped before it gets out of hand.To achieve this, the IEA is bringing together representatives of the four political parties and other interest groups to discuss issues of internal and multi-party democracy and tolerance.Jean Mensah who is the Executive Director of the Institute of Economic Affairs, said it is the hope of the IEA that through the programme “we can identify some challenges that together as a country we can solve.”She said the political environment was as if the country was in an election year. “There is a lot of tension and there is a lot of polarization and it is important that we address some of these issues.”According to her, the IEA seeks to “promote a culture of tolerance and accommodation in this country.”Source: Joy News/Ghana
