Central Regional Minister, Madam Ama Benyiwa Doe on Monday huffed and puffed at former Information Minister, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, recommending psychiatric examination for him.
The minister was furious that a publication of the Daily Guide of Monday, October 11, 2010, accused her of instigating the police to refuse Asamoah Boateng’s participation in the funeral of Nana Essandoh Okese VIII, the late Omanhene of Nkusukum Traditional Area in the Central Region.
Asamoah Boateng confirmed on Asempa FM he was turned away by the minister’s security detail for allegedly arriving late and in keeping with the demands of protocol. He said he did not see the minister at the funeral but was refused by her security detail, saying it would be a sad development if she claims not to know of the development.
But Ama Benyiwa Doe maintained the publication was a deliberate ploy by the opposition New Patriotic Party to win public sympathy but one she said, would bring the NPP shame.
She explained that the NPP in the Central Region was on a rough road bound for a ditch if they continue the path they have chosen, saying either Asamoah Boateng or whoever wrote the story might have gone bonkers and need psychiatric attention.
When Ama Benyiwa Doe rejoined the programme after Asamoah Boateng had suggested that a simple check by the minister from her security personnel would have established what transpired at the funeral, she said Asamoah Boateng was evading the issue after holding that she (the minister) was responsible for the development.
She doubted if anything at all could motivate her to stop Asamoah Boateng from attending the funeral, questioning “who is he anyway?” Listen to Asamoah Boateng and Ama Benyiwa Doe's interventions.
