Deputy Information Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says former Deputy Energy Minister, K.T. Hammond could be blowing mere hot air with his threat to go to court over sold state lands the government is reacquiring.
KT Hammond has threatened to sue the government if it goes ahead to seize his plot of land at the Airport he said he acquired legally.
But Okudzeto Ablakwa told Asempa FM that the Adansi Asokwa MP should be heading to the court if he indeed is one of those who acquired the said plot because the government has already taken back the land and is ready to meet him or any other aggrieved person in court over the matter.
According to the Deputy Information Minister, the government has already instructed the Lands Commission to return the money of all beneficiaries of the cheaply sold plots of land that has already been sealed off.
The property, initially allocated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was re-zoned for residential development by the previous government in 2007, and sold to interested buyers for between GH¢20,000 or GH¢ 15,000 per plot.
The 36 beneficiaries include high-ranking politicians, corporate executives and members of Parliament, the judiciary and the police service.
