The Vice President of FIDA International and New Patriotic Party sympathiser, Ms Ursula Owusu, has labeled Deputy Information Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as a "minister of misinformation".She said Mr Ablakwa has consistently twisted facts for purposes of propaganda - he said 1.6 million jobs had been created and also claimed that people stole state lands without evidence - according to Ursula, who insisted the deputy minister did all that in a desperate effort to smear the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana programme Friday that certain statements made by former first lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings at a TEIN induction ceremony gave credence to the National Democratic Congress (NDC’s) conviction that they would retire Nana Akufo Addo in 2010.He claimed that Nana Konadu’s purported speech at the ceremony signified her endorsement of President Mills, speaking of his fortunes in the upcoming elections. But a in press statement, the first lady's office rebutted Mr Ablakwa’s claims, saying she did not make statements on the fortunes of President Mills as against that of the NPP presidential candidate, and that the specific claim of 2012 going to be a retirement package for Nana Addo was made by another person.Ms Owusu speaking on the programme Monday, said she was shocked when she found out that what Mr Ablakwa attributed to Nana Konadu was false, especially when he [Ablakwa] was present at the function. "But how can a minister of information behave that way,” she asked, adding that “if you heard it yourself and you know she did not say that and you come and sit here and you endorse those falsehoods, then shouldn’t your own integrity be called into question?”Ms Owusu added that that is “why I have christened him as a minister of misinformation because he sits there and blatant falsehood comes out of his mouth.”She said she was happy that Nana Konadu has come out to correct the impression.“...These are the people who call themselves honest, God-fearing men and women of integrity who are running an open, transparent government, these are the same people feeding Ghanaians with lies? Please!” She added.Mr. John Jinapor, spokesperson for Vice President John Dramani Mahama, contributing to the discussion said the NDC was not desperate to portray anything to Ghanaians as Ursula sought to depict. He advised her to desist from the use of words like ‘liars and falsehood’, saying that "we only hope that in our attempts to rebut you don’t take offence…“If you disagree with somebody, you disagree and state the fact, why do you call him a blatant liar…,” he questioned.By: Dorcas Efe Mensah/myjoyonline.com/Ghana
