The Minority New Patriotic Party Members of Parliament are demanding the immediate resignation of the Deputy Tourism Minister for allegedly insulting them.
Kobby Acheampong is reported to have told the NPP General Secretary that he and the NPP MPs were behaving like illiterate cocoa farmers in Kumasi.
At a news conference Wednesday, the NPP MP’s gave the deputy tourism minister three days to clarify his comments which they considered derogatory.
The MP for Dormaa West, Kweku Agyemang who spoke on behalf of his colleagues said Mr Acheampong’s insult on cocoa farmers was unwarranted and unjustified.
He said cocoa farmers had worked tirelessly for the development of Ghana and do not deserve to have insults heaped on them by the Deputy Minister.
The MPs also called on President Mills to call Kobby Acheampong to order.
