A group of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from the Tema East Constituency Tuesday morning besieged the offices of Adom FM in Tema to protest what they described as name calling by one Dela Coffie, Communication Director for Friends of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.
Numbering about 15, the NDC Youth condemned in no uncertain terms description of President Mills as a traitor and someone who has done nothing to help the NDC and Ghana as a whole, claims they said should not be tolerated in the party.
Dela Coffie had granted an interview to Adakabre Frimpong Manso on the Dwaso Nsem programme on their quest for former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings to lead the NDC in the 2012 general elections.
No sooner had Dela finished the interview than the group trooped in to complain and caution ADOM FM not to allow individuals and particularly any member of the NDC to insult and castigate President Evans Atta Mills.
The Youth who were also granted audience on-air expressed belief in President Mills ability to deliver on the Better Ghana Agenda and hence do not see the reason why people should take a swipe at him, adding that he needs to be supported rather than called names in his endeavours.
Razak, one of the spokespersons of the Tema East NDC youth said although not every youth in the Tema is employed per se, they are resolute in their stance to support the president to achieve results, explaining that should Nana Konadu decide to contest the president, Ghanaians know what is good for them and will decide on who leads this country.
He therefore called on all feuding groups and factions in the party to ceasefire and chart a common cause for a better Ghana.
The NDC Youth, like other political analysts, added that the on-going situation could deepen the cracks in the NDC and break it, a situation he said will not augur well for the electoral fortunes of the party come 2012.
The youth also noted that the deep-seated rancour and acrimony in the party will affect it negatively.
