A group calling itself the Alliance for Responsible Opposition is accusing the New Patriotic Party of distracting the Mills administration.
The group insists it is part of the agenda of the NPP to make the government lose focus and thus fail to achieve its targets set out in its campaign manifesto.
And should that objective of Ghana's biggest opposition materialize, the NPP will be the ultimate beneficiary in the 2012 general elections, president of the group, Benjamin Akyena Brentuo said at a press conference on Wednesday.
He cited among other things, the NPP's boycott of Parliament during the STX housing deal debate, an action he said was inimical to the country’s development.
He told Joy News’ Fiifi Koomson after the press conference that the state of insecurity being trumpeted by opposition elements is a myth and a creation by the NPP.
He stated that the NPP is worried about the success of the government because such a feat will be construed as a failure for the NPP.
But the deputy communications manager of the NPP, Perry Okudzeto has described the assertions of the group as laughable.
He said the issues being raised by the NPP are legitimate and must be looked into.
