Lawyers for the Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi Asokwa K .T. Hammond will today file a suit against the state for wrongful seizure of a state land he bought under the Kufuor administration.K. T. Hammond said government has struck his name out as rightful owner of the land situated at the Airport Residential area here in Accra. This will be the first legal challenge to the Mills administration’s seizure of the lands government said were not properly acquired.Mr. Hammond told Joy News he is taking up a challenge thrown by a Deputy Information Minister to those aggrieved by the reacquisition. He said Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa had said many times those who were unhappy about the government’s decision to reclaim the lands should go to court and challenge the propriety of that decision. The Adansi Asokwa MP said he wanted the court restore his ownership of the land. For him, the cancellation of the lease agreements by the government was “wrong, it is unlawful and the government shouldn’t do that sort of thing.”Source: Joy News/Ghana
