Local Government Minister Joseph Yieleh Chireh has justified plans to transfer over thirty thousand civil servants.
The affected civil servants are going to the Local Government Service.
Mr. Yieleh Chireh said the exercise is in conformity with the new Local Government Law.
“It is not going to be a punishment type of transfer,” he emphasized.
He said people will be moved based on necessity.
The minister rubbished claims the exercise is politically motivated.
He said the creation of the Local Government Service was informed by the need to properly separate those who work in the civil service from those serving in the local government authorities.
