Ex-president Rawlings has reiterated the need for the Mills led administration to seek justice for the alleged human rights abuses under the Kufuor administration.According to him, it is only justice that will shore up the chances of the ruling government to retain power in the upcoming 2012 elections. He was interacting with some chiefs in the Northern Region. He had earlier visited victims of the flood disaster in the region.Northern Regional correspondent Mahama Shaibu who was present at the gathering said the ex-family hinted they might not campaign for the party in 2012 if President Mills fails to administer justice to the killers of Ya-Na Yakubu Andani and the Convention People’s Party chairman Alhaji Issa Mobila.Mr Rawlings accused the Kufuor administration of conducting shoddy investigation to cover-up killings that occurred during his tenure.
The ex-president also stated emphatically that neither he nor his wife has any interest in Mills’ presidency and that his call for justice is only to ensure that perpetrators of those heinous crimes are brought to book. The president also paid courtesy call on the family of the NDC regional chairman, Alhaji Sumani Zakari who passed away last week after a protracted illness. He was full of praise for the deceased who he said was a man full of courage. He said the party must be able to elect a successor who is equally as courageous as Sumani Zakari.Story by Nathan Gadugah/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
