Mr Anthony Gyampo, Eastern Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), said people, who claim they are fighting in the interest of NDC "foot soldiers" are not genuine party members.
He said such people were selfish and thought that because they did not gain directly from the party's victory, no other member should benefit.
Mr Gyampo was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Koforidua on the frequent claims by some NDC members that the "foot soldiers" were not being adequately catered for by the party.
He said that the party could only satisfy the desires of the "foot soldiers" only when it continues to be in government, and the presentation of grievances in a way that could destabilize the government was not legitimate demand.
Mr Gyampo said there had not been any government any where in the world that had been able to satisfy the needs of all its supporters within two years in office.
He explained that the satisfaction of the needs of party supporters was a gradual process that took several forms.
Mr Gyampoh said some party members with the requisite qualifications and experiences had been appointed to serve in various Ministries, on Boards of Companies and Commissions and awarded contracts and consultancy work.
He said those benefits were limited to a few people but the greater gains would come when the government ensure good governance and policies to the benefit all Ghanaians.
Mr Gyampo said Ghanaians voted for the NDC because the party promised in its manifesto to ensure good governance.
He advised NDC grassroots supporters to be wary of self-imposed "spokespersons" because they were not speaking in their interest but had selfish motives.
Mr Gyampo observed that because so far, the achievements of the
government of President John Evans Atta Mills within the last 22 months were
unprecedented, some persons have decided to sabotage the government for
their selfish gains.
