President John Dramani Mahama has promised to turn Builsa South District of the Upper East Region into one of the main food-producing districts in Ghana.
The President assured the people of the district a Farmers’ Services Center will be set up at Gbedembisi, to help increase food productivity and improve the incomes and livelihoods of farmers there.
President Mahama is in the region on his Accounting to the people tour which has taken him to almost all regions of the country.

He inspected a rice storage warehouse built at Weisi under a Northern Rural Growth Program, a partnership agreement between the African Development Bank, the Ministry of Food And Agriculture of the Government of Ghana and the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD).

Joy News' Albert Sore reported that President Mahama also commissioned a newly built boy's dormitory at the Fumbisi Senior High School in the district.

At Chuchuliga in the Builsa North district, the President cut a sod for the construction of the Chuchuliga-Sandema-Weisi-Nakong road.
"The funding is available and so there is not going to be any delay...the contractor is going to continue working...so the work is going to continue until the project is complete," President Mahama added.
He also assured the Regional House of Chiefs that culprits of the various microfinance scams in the area will be brought to justice.
