Kusasi youth in Bawku this morning clashed with the police over the release of a man who issued a document declaring the Bawku Naaba’s skin vacant.Upper East Regional Commander ACP Bright Oduro who is on his way to Bawku has confirmed there has been some exchange of gunfire.The violence is said to have escalated following the release of the author of the controversial document from police custody.The Bawku District Police Commander, Kwaku Boadu-Peprah told Joy News’ Seth Kwame Boateng that angry Kusasi youth started hurling stones and other missiles after the court granted the author of the document – a Manprusi - bail.He said in response to the action of the youth, the police “rained bullets to disperse them.”The police commander said the situation would have got out of hand if the police did not take a proactive stand against the youth.The youth have also reportedly burnt a vehicle near the courtroom.Mr. Boadu-Peprah said when the police arrived at the scene where the car was burnt, nobody was prepared to talk about exactly what happened.Source: Joy News/Ghana
