Fugitive Johnson Kombian is expected to be extradited to Ghana this week to face trial after his arrest in Togo on Saturday by the Togolese police officials and Interpol.
Johnson Kombian on October 17 this year, ambushed and killed two police officers and left another injured in Nakpanduri in the Northern region.
This comes after one of his jail breaking escapades in January 15, 2010.
Until his escape, Kombian was serving a five-year jail sentence for a previous escape while he was awaiting trial for robbery and attempted murder.
Superintendent Kwesi Fori confirmed to Joy News that Kombian had been arrested in Togo.
“Ghana Police Service through the Interpol network alerted our neighbouring security forces to track Kombian and at the moment we have received some information pertaining to his arrest following the pictures that were given to the neighbouring security forces. At the moment we are resorting to Interpol …where our personnel who know him will be going to that country to identify him.”
Supt. Kwesi Fori said the Ghana Police will have to resort to Interpol procedures and the procedures of Togo to finally extradite him to Ghana to face justice.
