Anthony Abayifa Karbo, National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party says the ruling National Democratic Congress will face stiff opposition if they become violent in the 2012 elections. He said the NDC has shown clearly that the 2012 campaign season will not be based on issues but rather character assassination, intimidation and violence which he said the NPP will not countenance. “One of the major strategies the NDC is planning to adopt in 2012 will be character assassination, intimidation and violence on our members and we in the NPP are fully prepared to meet them squarely just like we did in Atiwa during the by-election,” Karbo warned. Anthony Karbo was addressing the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy Network of the NPP on the Nyankpala Campus of the University for Development Studies (UDS) to climax the party’s three days national youth conference held in Tamale. He said the NPP would not allow the NDC to change the will of the Ghanaian electorate in 2012 if government dares to manipulate the security and Electoral Commission. The NPP National Youth Organizer stated that there is no way President Mills could win the 2012 elections because of his administration’s “reckless mismanagement” of the Ghanaian economy. He was certain that the NDC government will be unable to adequately deal with youth unemployment in Ghana before the 2012 elections and therefore must not be voted for. He impressed upon NPP youth to galvanize more votes for the party in 2012 since it will require the collective efforts of every party member to wrestle power from the NDC. “I am pleading with you my colleague party youth to be the ambassadors and apostles of real change in 2012 because our party needs to do more leg work to win the next elections,” Karbo emphasized. On the controversial STX Korea contract, Anthony Karbo described that deal as “No show” because Ghanaians will not sit aloof for the Atta Mills government to mortgage Ghana’s oil and gas industry. He concluded that the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority concept will be a mirage because the NDC has not shown the political good will to implement the policy. Source: Citi FM
