Ghana's first competitive tournament in the new year would be the African Nations Championship - CHAN as the local Black Stars bid for continental glory.
The Black Stars would be making another appearance at the second edition of the competition designed by CAF for only home-based players of its member countries to be staged by Sudan in February.
Having picked silver in the maiden event two years ago, Ghana would this time round be aiming for the ultimate after the Black Stars were paired in Group B with South Africa, Zimbabwe and Niger in the 16-nation competition.
But as Ghana plan towards a successful competition, group opponents, South Africa have their sights set on the Black Stars.
Following last weekend's draw, coach of the South African side Simon Ngomane says he finds his Bafana Bafana in a tough group.
The CHAN debutantes admits that drawing Ghana makes it a rather difficult group.
“It is a difficult draw," Ngomane said. "You look at Ghana for example who did extremely well at in the (FIFA 2010) World Cup and you look at their youth development."
The competition begins on February 4.
