First-half strikes from Kevin-Prince Boateng, Robinho and Zlatan Ibrahimovic had all but settled the game by half-time. And though Milan failed to the score in the second half, they played well within themselves to close out the match. Milan come into the game with a number of injuries, but coach Massimiliano Allegri was still able to select a powerful side, led by an attacking trio who all got on the scoresheet. With just four minutes on the clock Ibrahimovic cut his way down the left of the penalty area to the byline, and cut the ball back for Boateng to score his first goal for the Rossoneri. Brescia came close to a reply when Andrea Caracciolo's acrobatic volley forced a sharp save from Christian Abbiati after a quarter of an hour, but the visitors were never allowed to settle into the game. And the pressure told, with a defensive howler creating the second goal for Robinho. Perparim Hetemaj flicked a pass back towards goal without looking, only to see the ball had fallen to the Brazilian, who tucked it away with ease. Two minutes later, a moment of brilliance from Ibrahimovic put the hosts further ahead. The Swede looked short of space with his back to goal, but after a couple of dragbacks he found some room and burst past Gilberto Martinez and lashed the ball high into the goal. Another shocking back pass, this time from Jonathan Zebina, should have handed Boateng his second, but Matteo Sereni put his body on the line to deny the Ghana international. Robinho's rebound effort was blocked by Martinez at the near post. The intensity left the game at half-time, with Milan happy to sit on their comfortable lead. There were, however, further chances and Robinho missed another great opportunity after Boateng's cross found the Brazilian lurking at the back post. But with plenty of time and space he fired over the bar. Martinez had to make a brave block moments later to deny Gennaro Gattuso a shot from point-blank range. Allegri introduced Mathieu Flamini and Ronaldinho in an attempt to freshen up his side and both had half-chances. Ronaldinho's would have been a special goal, but he side footed a volley from Ignazio Abate's pinpoint cross just over the bar. Despite the lack of intensity, Milan still had more than enough to keep the visitors at bay, and the final whistle suited both sides. Brescia lurch into the relegation zone on goal difference after this result, and their struggles in the top flight continue. Milan, meanwhile, extend their unbeaten run in Serie A to five games, and with players of the calibre of Pato still to return to the team they look in ominous form. Source:
