Momentum is gathering ahead of the 2010 Africa Club Hockey Championship to be staged in Ghana from December 9-18.
The continent's best hockey clubs will be vying for honors, with seven male and six female hockey clubs competing.
Defending Champions, Shakier Club from Egypt have made their intentions of retaining the title clear after arriving for the competition.
Speaking on the Joy Sports Link at the weekend, Coach of Shakier Club Yahaya Debese said avoiding complacency remains their catch phrase.
He said he respects the Ghanaian team because they beat Egyptian counterparts a couple of years ago – a defeat he said was quite painful.
Meanwhile the Police Team of Egypt is also keen on wrestling the title from Shakier Club.
Assistant Coach of the Police team of Egypt, Mageed Mohamed Abu Tald also talked up their chances on the sports Link.
“We prepared ourselves to come and win the [championship] and not just participate,” he said.
He said it was great that the championship had become keenly competitive.
This will be Ghana’s second time hosting the continental club.
