Like stars on earth we are, writes celebrated Ghanaian poet, Michael Somuah in this poem. Enjoy!
LIKE STARS ON EARTH
We carve the thoughts of our minds
We weave the prints of our traditions
We drum the unspoken desires of our heart to the wind
We mould the art of lost times into music of life
We paint shades of colors and make it dearer to the eyes
We splash the horizons of the four corners of the Earth,
to the voices of tomorrow
We braid the countless thread of our hair,
into coils of wearable styles
We write Shakespeare
We paint Leonardo da Vinci
We play Ludwig Van Beethoven
We drum Kofi Ghanaba
We speak Atukwei Okai, Kofi Awoornor and Anyidoho
We cloak in Kente
We adorn Ananse Bonwire
We carve Charles Hall
We illustrate and image Mosaic
We stylist Trevor Sorbie
We are the art
We are the language
We are entertainment
And together,
‘We are the world of indiscoverable brands,
Of creativity’
