Less than 24 hours after sacking Sam Allardyce, Blackburn Rovers’ Indian owners are believed to have identified Argentina legend Diego Maradona as the man to replace him at Ewood Park, according to the Daily Mirror.
Maradona would seemingly be the kind of glamorous appointment that the Rao brothers are hoping to make as they aim to promote the club, and their poultry company, to a worldwide audience.
The former Napoli and Barcelona player managed his country during last summer’s World Cup in South Africa but he has never taken charge of a club side in Europe, and, according to the Mirror, an Indian insider at the club believes a role will be found for Maradona, even if it's not as manager.
“Maradona is seen as the right profile for the VH Group. He could be offered the manager’s job, the general manager’s job or even technical director.”
