The Alliance For Accountable Government (AFAG) has described the Mills-led administration as "heartless and wicked" for what they describe as the deteriorated “quality of life of the average Ghanaian."
This was contained in a press statement released by members of the group on Tuesday in relation to the 2011 budget.
The statement said the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) had failed at fulfilling its numerous promises as a result of "laziness and incompetence."
The group believes the fact that the NDC government increased taxes when it promised not to introduce nor increase taxes during the 2008 electioneering campaign is ample evidence to the lethargic and depraved ways of the government.
The statement further questioned the honesty of the government and pointed to its inability to act in accordance with its promise to allocate GHC200 million as start-up to the Sahara Accelerated Development Authority (SADA).
AFAG said government’s silence on the NHIS is clear proof that the NDC government has failed in its promise to provide the one-time premium for the health insurance scheme.
The statement went on to accuse the government of hypocrisy for allocating more financial resources to the Office of Government Machinery as against the Ministries of Trade and Industry as well as Food and Agriculture, when the government “promised to cut down government administration expenses to make the size of their government lean.”
The group said the government's actions with taxes are crippling business and industry and advised the government to wake up to the realities of its deeds.
The group is therefore pessimistic about how the “tax ridden budget would be able to create jobs and encourage business growth.”
