President J.E.A. Mills is calling on Ghanaians to give thanks to God for bringing the country this far. He says even though there have been challenges, Ghanaians must be grateful for the many blessings.
The president made the remarks at a special end-of-year and Christmas service held at the Castle Gardens Sunday, attended by some religious leaders, ministers of state and members of the general public.
“A few months ago, we decided that we will come together in this Castle not to talk politics, but to have discussions with our lord and maker every Sunday. My brothers and sisters, it is only proper and fitting that we give praise to God,” he said.
The president maintained that regardless of the pessimistic and cynical comments by some, the government had come far.
“God’s ways are not our ways,” he said, adding, “God knows what programme He has for us. Men’s wishes cannot be God’s wishes.”
He used the service to deliver his Christmas wishes to Ghanaians and also called for prayers for the Ivory Coast.
