The 1971 African Footballer of the Year, Ibrahim Sunday says Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan’s impressive display for club and country this year makes him the favourite to pick up the 2010 Caf Player of the Year award.
This comes after the 23-year-old was awarded the BBC African Footballer for the year 2010 last Friday.
Gyan is expected to face stiff opposition from other award contenders; Ivory Coast and Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and Cameroon and Inter Milan attacker Samuel Eto’o Fils.
Ibrahim Sunday however believes Asamoah Gyan stands tall amongst the other award contenders.
He said although Drogba and Eto’o had done tremendously well for their clubs, they did not do too well for their national teams.
That, he believes is where Asamoah Gyan’s strength lies – doing extremely well for both club and country.
