The Member of Parliament for Kwadaso, Dr. Owusu-Afriyie Akoto is asking his colleagues in Parliament to take lead roles in the development of their constituencies. He holds the view that the work of the MP is not and should not only be limited to law-making.Dr. Owusu-Afriyie said development of the constituencies must not be the preserve of only district chief executives who often haggle with MPs over funds meant for developmental projects.According to him, as elected representatives of the people, MPs must get aggressively involved in solving the problems in their constituencies.Dr Owusu Afriyie told Sammy Darko of Joy FM he had raised funds to construct about 18 classroom blocks across his constituency to eliminate a shift system at the basic school level. He believes other MPs can do same to fast-track the development of their constituencies.Meanwhile, Parliament is expected to go on recess today, December 22.Source: Joy News/Ghana
