District Assembly and Unit Committee candidates vying for positions to represent residents in the six electoral areas of the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in the Greater Accra region have been offered a last minute opportunity to tell the electorate why they should be elected as representatives.The platform will be opened to the candidates at 3pm prompt on Monday December 27, 2010, at the Dzorwulu Junior High School, under the auspices of the Ayawaso West Wuogon Development Council and some residents’ associations, in collaboration with the Ayawaso District Office of the Electoral Commission.In all, seventy two candidates are vying for Assembly and Unit Committee positions to represent the six electoral areas of Dzorwulu, Abelenkpe, Airport-Roman Ridge, Legon, East Legon and Okponglo.While the candidates are upbeat about the prospects of representing their communities, residents remain unenthusiastic about the elections.Conveners of the platform are encouraging residents and stakeholders in the six electoral areas to attend encounter, get to know the contestants and come out to vote on Tuesday, December 28, 2010.Story credit: William Dowokpor
