The Electoral Commission has rescheduled District Level Elections in eight regions. This is because the commission is yet to finish distributing electoral materials to the areas affected. Tomorrow's elections will therefore be held in only the Central and Upper West Regions.Speaking to Joy News, the Public Relations officer of the Electoral Commission, Christian Owusu Parry, said elections in eight other regions will be held on Wednesday and Thursday.Mr. Owusu Parry said "we [the EC] are rescheduling the elections because we have not been able to print all the ballot papers for all the regions. So the commission has decided that for the regions that have the full complement of the ballot papers they can go ahead and have the elections tomorrow and the rest of the regions will hold [the elections] as and when the ballot papers are ready."Mr. Owusu Parry further explained that on "Wednesday that is the 29th of December we [the EC] will have elections in the Ashanti Region, in the Greater Accra Region, Brong Ahafo Region, Northern Region, the Volta Region and the Upper east region and then on Thursday 30th December, voting will take place in the Eastern and Western Regions."The District Level Elections has been preceded by accusations and comments from both political parties and aspirants, all raising fears about the way the commission is handling the upcoming elections. In spite of the changes in the schedule, the Public Affairs Director of the Police Service, Superintended Kwesi Fori told Joy News the national elections task force is still committed to the course and will adjust to the new election timetable. He said personnel of the election task force will liaise with the electoral commission to restrategise for the much anticipated district level elections.Story by Derick Romeo Adogla/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
