Minister for Communications, Haruna Iddrisu has warned that Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives who undermine NDC MPs could be sacked.
He said the government is poised for action and will not tolerate mediocre appointees and those whose actions threaten the governing NDC’s chances of winning more Parliamentary seats in the 2012 general elections.
“Disharmony between [MPs and MMDCEs] can affect the fortunes of the party in the future elections and the NDC remains determined to maintain control of the legislative organ of government – Parliament – and therefore government will not countenance any insubordination or any conduct of the DCE that seeks to undermine the Member of Parliament,” he said.
Haruna Iddrisu was speaking at a get together for party executives and activists at Chereponi.
He said while the party was in principle, not against MMDCEs nursing parliamentary ambitions, it however abhorred any attempts to undermine sitting NDC MPs in order to bolster the MMDCEs’ own chances.
Any such action on the part of any DCE, the Communication Minister warned, “will be dealt with decisively by the ruling administration”.
