Poetry Delight presents a scintillation poem by one our cherished contributors. Do you believe in love? This poem teaches a thing or two about the greatest gift of all, love. Enjoy.
HOW DO I LOVE YOU?
How do I love you?
Let me count the times!
One, two, three, four, five times over...or till infinity?
How do I love you?
Let me count the ways!
The depth of passion that flames my burning fire?
The breath of fresh air that resuscitates my dying life ?
The rush that thins my blood and makes me go halo?
Great, but not quite!
So how do I love you?
Let me imagine the reasons!
The purpose for a soul search unity?
The completness to an unfinished work of art?
The intrinsic dance to the sounds of inaudible beats?
The pulse to the heart of life itself?
Deep, but not quite!
So how do I really love you?
It’s difficult to describe it, but I will try!
From the depths of me, it flows like limped waters that has no end in sight; but is blocked at the rocks of disillusion.
From my deep pains, it erupts like a volcano: Burning fiercely; rushing speedily; solidifying gently and birthing new forms of love.
In my joys, it sings a composition utterly senseless yet sweet and soothing enough, if only you can be still, and be with me to appreciate it.
And, within the gulch and height of maturity, it cries out loudly but you are too deaf from inertia to hear its lullaby.
It stands with open arms; but you are too blind to see.
It smiles with yearning; but you are too dazed to inure its fulfillment.
Yet i love you
More each day
In heaps and bounds
Far and beyond
In realms not yet experienced
But in earnest prayers that one day, just one day,
the scales will fall; and you can feel the warmth of my love.
The wax will melt; and you can hear the soothing sounds of my love playing.
The mucus will clear; and you can see the beautiful world of my love beckoning.
And your heart will burst out flames of a love so pure and true, you are yet experience.
One day, just one day... that day will surely come… I wait in earnest!
Inspiration behind the poem:
This poem was inspired by the anguish of a friend who is head-over- heels in love with someone, yet the person cannot see, feel or sense how much she loves him.
The feeling is so destructive and she wishes he will come to realize how much she loves him, but he is so oblivious to what is right in front of him.
She can only recount how she feels about him and can only hope that one day he will come to realize how much she loves him.
As the saying goes, “good things come to those who believe, better things come to those who are patient and the best things come to those who don’t give up”, no matter how painful the journey of love may be, don’t give up on love. True love is indeed beautiful.
