Braimah Kamoko was in court Friday for after he was accused of assaulting a hairdresser who refused to give him a kiss.

The boxer, popularly called Bukom Banku, was at a Circuit Court in Accra on September 2 to begin proceedings on his case which reportedly happened at Bukom, a suburb of the Greater Accra Region.

Police say the complainant, Martha Nelson, was in her shop when Banku entered and demanded a kiss. She refused, which led to a swift slap and punch from the cruiserweight boxer.  

She alleges that he then snatched her Nokia phone, valued at GHS 40, and smashed it onto the floor. He then, loudly, boasted that he will replace the phone with a Samsung Galaxy.  

Banku will reappear in court on Monday, September 5.

This case is the latest in a long line of allegations against him that have controversially never ended in a sentence.

In March 2016, he was arraigned and granted bail for allegedly assaulting three women after one of them rejected his request for sex.

Bukom Banku, in October 2015, also allegedly used a cutlass to assault one Michael Abbey; a resident of Akoto Lantey in Accra, but he again was let off the hook.

Earlier the same year, he was again arrested for allegedly assaulting some persons after a disagreement at the traditional Ga ‘Kpashimo’ procession at Gbese in Accra.

It is widely believed that because of his open association with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and regular associations with the President, the authorities are unable to punish the boxer.
