The Nima police in Accra are holding four persons accused of unlawful acts at the offices of the Peoples National Convention last week.
They face charges including unlawful entry, causing damage to property and stealing. It’s the latest fallout of internal wrangling in the party.
Executives have denounced the setting up of an Interim Management Committee by a faction of leading members to run the affairs of the PNC whilst those who formed the IMC also accuse the current executives of lacking legitimacy to act on the party’s behalf.
The suspects are alleged to have broken into the party office and used letterheads without authorization.
Crime officer at the Kotobabi police station where the national executives first lodged the complaint, ASP John Coffie, told Joy News the suspects will soon be arraigned before court.
He said the four claimed they were members of the IMC and were holding a meeting in the party premises when they were picked up.
Meanwhile Ashanti Region Chairman of the PNC, Thomas Young, has denied claims regional party chairmen have endorsed the IMC.
He said he is only a member of group formed to mediate the impasse between the IMC and the party executive.
