The Opposition New Patriotic party is demanding an apology from Deputy Information Minister James Agyenim-Boateng for what they say are derogatory comments he made about taxi drivers.
Mr. Agyenim-Boateng made the remarks on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show yesterday in reaction to the NPP’s criticisms of the President’s recent reshuffle.
“When it comes to the men, the personnel and all of that we have them and… indeed, in this administration, I’m yet to hear somebody point to somebody who they will call a taxi driver taking a ministerial position,” he said.
But the NPP in a swift rebuttal has described the comments as insulting.
A statement signed by Party chairman Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey is asking for a retraction and an apology because the remark sought to demean taxi drivers. The party also wants President Mills to take disciplinary action against the Deputy minister.
