PNC leader, Edward Mahama is accusing the disputed Interim Management Committee (IMC)of the party of engaging in an illegality.
His comment comes after three members of the committee including its spokesperson Dr. Somtim Tobiga were invited for questioning by police Wednesday. They were reported to have broken into the party headquarters in Accra.
Speaking to Joy News, Dr. Mahama said the action by the IMC was illegal and that the National Executive Committee (NEC) elected last year “is the legitimate executive of the PNC.”
He explained that these problems plaguing the PNC have arisen as a result of the preparations towards the 2012 elections and that some people are interested in certain positions in the party.
He averred that “the PNC is a democratic party. Whatever they want to do, we will go to congress and at congress anyone who wants a position can vie for [it].”
He noted that due to this interest “some people are involved in criminal activities” and would soon be arraigned before the courts to face law.
