The Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB) Ghana has elected its first female president in the history of the Institute, Reverend Patricia Sappor Thursday.
Reverend Sappor is an experienced banker with 31 years in the industry having worked with Bank for Housing and Construction (BHC) for 11years and over 20years in Ecobank.
Mrs Sappor is currently the vice president of the Institute and has been a fellow since 2008. She chartered in 1995 and presently is the Head of Corporate Communication, Ecobank Ghana and Anglophone West Africa.
A Reverend Minister of Action Chapel International Mrs Sappor has to her credit a Christian book titled 'The Christian Woman (secrets to enjoying your marriage)' aimed at guiding couples especially women on how to have a happy and lasting relationship.
The CIB (Ghana chapter) was registered in 1978 under the Professional Bodies Decree of 1973 (NRCD 143) with 30 professional members and 11 corporate members.
The Institute can boast of 26 corporate members, 574 professional members and over 5,000 student members.
The Institute serves as a professional body for banks and financial institutions with an aim to provide stimulus for the development of competent and more qualified human resources that will enable the banks to offer efficient and competitive services to meet modern-day sophisticated demands and satisfaction.
The Institute is governed by a Council made up of members who represent the banks in Ghana and a few non-bank financial institutions.
