Kumasi Asante Kotoko proved a handful for Division Two side Danbort FC, as the Porcupine Warriors walloped the Accra side by a 3:0 margin in their MTN/FA Cup competition at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Nathaniel Asamoah fetched a brace, added on my Michael Akuffo for a 3:0 first half win with the second half producing no goals as the visitors stayed in their half and warded off the marauding Kotoko forwards.
The competition's Round of 64 games also saw Medeama FC turn Real Tamale United inside-out and sent them packing with a 3:0 beating.
Striker James Boadu who fetched a brace, was also voted the MVP of the game which opened Medeama’s new ‘home’ park at Tarkwa.
RTU coach Mohammed Gargo blamed the defeat to the loss of striker Sumaila Nyaya early in the game which he said disrupted his game plan, and a ‘wet’ pitch that frustrated his boys.
Bashir Hayford in charge of Medeama was on the other hand satisfied with the scoreline after losing three key players to the local Black Stars preparing for the CHAN tournament.
He was also happy the team did not disappoint the fans who turned up to watch their ‘darling’ side. He intends to utilize the short league break to hone in the side tipped to win the premier league this season.
In other matches, Heart of Lions also thumped K.F.C. 3:0 while Berekum Arsenals also beat Ajax 4:2.
