The president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Issa Hayatou, has said he will never again challenge for the presidency of Fifa.
Hayatou fought a bitter contest against the present head of football's world governing body, Sepp Blatter, in 2002.
Blatter is facing another election for the post in June but Hayatou has ruled himself out of the running.
"I will never [again] contest the Fifa presidency because I am happy with the way things are moving now," he said.
"We [Caf] are working hand in hand with Blatter and everything is moving on well, without serious issues."
Blatter, who is seeking a fourth term in office, faces a possible challenge from the head of the Asian Football Confederation, Mohamed Bin Hammam of Qatar.
Hayatou was speaking in Khartoum in the build-up to the start of the African Nations Championship - the CHAN as it is known.
The tournament for national teams made up of locally-based players kicks off on Friday.
"We are very happy with the organisation committee here and hope the tournament will be even more competitive compared to the first edition," Hayatou said.
Sudan 2011 features 16 teams instead of the original eight who played in the first CHAN tournament, which took place in Ivory Coast two years ago.
The Caf boss also warned African clubs against trying to influence match results by speaking t officials before games.
"It's unfortunate that club presidents in Africa contact referees to try and win games unfairly," he said.
He said Caf have continued to spend lots of money trying to develop African referees so that they can be of the highest possible standard.
