Parliament has swiftly approved the nomination of the controversial deputy minister, John Oti Bless.
Mr Bless was nominated by President John Mahama for the position of deputy minister for Local Government and Rural Development.
Parliament's Appointments Committee vetted him but withheld the approval of his appointment for three months following allegations that he made unsavoury comments about justices of the Supreme Court.
The Minority in making reference to the comments the appointee made on Accra-based Montie FM, thought that he did not deserve the position.
Three other persons, Godwin Ako-Gunn, Alistair Nelson and Salifu Maase, aka Mugabe, who made similar remarks about the Chief Justice and justices of the supreme court, were imprisoned after they were found guilty of contempt of court.
The House, therefore, suspended the approval of Oti Bless' appointment even after he apologised for the comments.
However, the House during its October 26 sitting approved the nomination of the appointee after a vote.
“The ayes have it,” Speaker Edward Doe Adjaho said, to seal the appointment.
Mr Bless will serve as deputy minister for a month as the country prepares to go to the polls on December 7.
