Unconfirmed reports say armed men have attacked and robbed passengers on two vehicles at Dowri, a village between Jasikan and Hohoe in the Volta Region.
Passengers aboard the vehicles, a 33-seater bus and another carrying cargo and heading to Accra from Jasikan, had their possessions ransacked and valuables including cash and phones taken away by the robbers who scattered the remaining possessions they did not need by the roadside.
An eyewitness, Raymond Gyamposu told Myjoyonline.com that the robbery took place shortly after 2am as the robbers blocked the main Jasikan - Hohoe road with a huge log to aid in their anti-social operation.
Passengers aboard a Metro Mass Transit bus from Jasikan to Accra narrowly escaped the ordeal after the driver saw the commotion from a distance and quickly detoured and alerted other road users.
According to the eyewitness who was also travelling to Accra from Jasikan, the robbers abandoned the road following the approach of a combined team of policemen from Jasikan and Kajebi who were alerted to the crime by some of the lucky would be victims.
